Abstract Detail

Armstrong, Joseph E. [1], Coykendall, Mark [2].

Laboratory instruction in economic botany.

Economic botany is a fairly common and popular subject for undergraduate instruction, however relatively few institutions offer associated laboratory instruction. In the laboratory classroom economic botany can be explored and connections made between the classroom subject and life experiences. Over the years with the assistance of my students, a rich melange of explorations, demonstrations, activities, and investigations has been developed. An outline of the diverse activities will be provided organized by general topics. Materials and specimen acquisition will be discussed. Examples of favorite activities will be presented. Digital copies of my laboratory manual will be provided for participants at a nominal cost.
